At the Beach

T
This year for our Blanchard Family Reunion, my parents decided to try out something new. They reserved a 3 bedroom suite at Trendwest's Gleneden resort near Lincoln City. Each family would come and stay one night at the resort, to enjoy some one-on-one with Grandma and Grandpa at the beautiful beach! On the Day that we came down, we were blessed with incredibly beautiful weather!
During Low Tide, we took a little walk and found some interesting rocks and seashells. We found a sand dollar, some pretty agates, and best of all, some really amazing rocks! Earlier in the week, my brother and Dad found a 40 lb piece of petrified wood! That was a rare find. We also found a rock that was made by sea worms. It was a rock riddled with holes, and covered with slime. I've seen small ones before, but never one this HUGE!
The kids got tired pretty early on in the walk. I had also forgotten Julianna's backpack. So we only went a little ways before we had to turn back and rest. Dorathy and Christopher got to stay for a long walk with Grandpa.

Posted by PicasaAngel ate an apple, but Julianna ate sand! On our last day, we got to spend some time with my brother Joseph's family and their sweet 3 children. The cousins had lots of fun together.
Everyone's favorite part of Grandma's "beach house" wasn't the beach...it was the swimming pool! In less than 24 hours, my kids dragged us out to swim with them 3 different times! The pool was heated, but the breeze was still briskly cold. We were all frozen by the time we were done. Thank goodness they had a spa to warm up in. The kids would swim till their lips turned blue and they were shivering, and then they'd warm up in the spa, and then they'd get BACK into the cooler pools! They are braver than me!

What a handful!

So overall, the new family reunion experiment was a great success. We all had a lovely time.

Thanks, Mom & Dad!
